What is Visual Basic?

Visual Basic also supports ActiveX controls. These are controls, which other people have designed (or you if you want!) either in Visual Basic, or another language, which you can then put in to your application like any other control (a button for example). However you must always check if you are allowed to use the control, as you may need to pay a registration fee to the author.
