ASP.NET is the latest incarnation of Microsoft's Active Server Pages (ASP) - a powerful server-based technology, designed to create dynamic and interactive HTML pages for your Web site, or corporate intranet. ASP.NET also constitutes a core element in Microsoft's .NET vision, providing web-based access to an immensely powerful new development environment, .NET; in this respect alone, it's a great leap ahead of all previous versions of ASP.

If you want a book that is going to get you up and running with some applications, then this is a good one to add to your library.

Beginning ASP.NET using VB.NET by Wrox is a very helpful introduction to web building using the .NET technology.

I have been building web sites using standard ASP for 5 years. I am finding this book (I'm half way through it) to be a great place to start moving on to ASP.NET. It is easy to read. New technical concepts are explained without the authors trying to impress you with techno-babble. The book lays a good foundation and then builds on that. I recommend it.

The breakdown of the book of this book is not good and did not help me as a beginner

This is my first WROX book, but it will probably be my last. It is hard to concentrate on the topic when there are so many misspellings and grammar errors. The content appears like it is the authors' rough drafts. If I am going to pay $[money] for a book, I expect it to be professionally done. It makes you wonder whether you are actually being taught by people who know what they are talking about...
