BlackBerry smart phones aren’t just for business. In fact, throw away that boring spreadsheet, tear up that yearly budget report—the BlackBerry is a lean, mean game-playing machine. Carol Hamer and Andrew Davison, expert software game developers, show you how to leverage the BlackBerry Java™ Development Environment (based on Java ME) to design and create fun, sophisticated game applications from role playing to dueling with light sabers.

I found this book quite useful. It covers the basic ideas of game development and has easy to follow examples. I am not even done reading the book, but am learning a lot from it as I read through it. It is important that a reader spend time understanding the examples to get the full value from the book.

I so wanted to love this book but it was just terrible. The first examples are for older systems that you can't even buy anymore and then Midlets. Really ? There are other midlets books this should of been Blackberry native with interesting code examples and ideas. Why would a game developer need to be told about USB.
The best of the Blackberry books so far is the Chris King one but even that isn't great , no-one is paying attention and just whipping crap out and this book is a collection of half baked and unfinished ideas. Really expected better. Search for Blackberry game development on the net and there are much better tutorials.
This book should never have been released.
