John Price demonstrates why Media Centre can make your life richer. Covering the history, how easy it is to write applications for it and where its going with Vista. He then demonstrates where the XBOX 360 fits in the picture. "We’ll take a look at what Media Center is across its history, but specifically whats available for us in Vista Media Center. We’ll have a look at its features, look at the different programming modules available for this platform, and have a look at how to get started writing code for it. We’ll look at extenders and how the Xbox 360 can allow information to be shared across multiple locations in a house. We’ll look at using some home automation, and end with a look at whats different in the Media Center thats part of Windows 7." **This was voted the best session at NxtGenUG Cambridge in 2008.** John Price is an active member of the development community - looking after the NxtGenUG development user group in Coventry. He has been coding from an early age, and developing in .NET since it was launched. He specialises in developing media devices for XP and Media Center. John is also a pilot and so when he is not coding he can usually be found flying his aeroplane around Coventry. John has a blog at www.johnnysblog.net. Please arrive from 6.30pm for a prompt 7pm start.
