The C#/VB.Net SIG (Special Interest Group) is a non-profit, volunteer based organization aimed at helping all levels of computer users, ranging from hobbyists to consultants. The objective of the SIG is to provide a forum for sharing information and networking with those who work with C# and Visual Basic.Net. We invite programming professionals, as well as hobbyists, to join us every month. Aside from the monthly meetings, we also communicate regularly via e-mail getting input on how to resolve various coding problems. The meetings are a great place to network and meet with others in the software industry. The group meets once a month, typically every 4th Tuesday, to discuss various topics related to C# and VB.Net. Meetings are free of charge and open to the public. The meeting schedule and topic listings can be found at http://www.clevelanddotnet.info/

Cucumber with Leon Gersing

It's time! The next CleRB meeting will be on Monday, November 30th. We'll be continuing from where we left off last time. Didn't come last time? Don't remember where we were? That's fine, stop by the Installfest table to get Ruby & Rails set up on your machine! We have a Rails app setup, but it doesn't do anything. This month we'll be starting our first features test-first using the automated acceptance testing tool Cucumber.

November/December Black Swan meetup
109km away in Pittsburgh
As usual, the holidays throw a monkey wrench into when to have the meetup. The 21s is very soon, and the 29th is still part of Thanksgiving weekend. So I am thinking December 6 at 10:30 am. The book is "The Future of the Internet and How to Stop it" by Jonathan Zittrain. This is now out in paperback. The title is something of a misnomer--it is more about the future character of the internet as open but vulnerable versus closed but secure.

Pittsburgh PHP Developers Group December Meetup
111km away in Squirrel Hill
The September meeting's topic will be working with other developer's code; including working with open source projects and picking up the pieces where another developer left off. No one particularly enjoys this, but it is often necessary. Share your ideas about how to deal with both good code and bad code! Come meet other Pittsburgh-based PHP developers! We intend to offer presentations and discussion of interest to both beginners and more advanced developers.
