Web developers get into the business for love of the craft and culture. Making it profitable is something we all assume we can figure out along the way. So fifteen years in, why are some of the most talented people in the industry still struggling? The truth is simple: You need to do more than Build Cool Shit™.

In this talk, Aaron will share his thoughts on reputation, getting noticed, and balancing business without losing your edge. If all goes well, he’ll have time to take some technical questions, so as not to come off as a complete Suit.

Over the past fifteen years, Aaron has rented himself out as a freelancer, led the web team of a large publishing company, and helped run Electric Pulp, a successful web consultancy located well off the beaten path. Electric Pulp clients include Ford Motor Company, Apollo Theater, AEG, Incase, Guy Kawasaki, Stephen Colbert, and Jon Stewart. This one time, they even built Justin Bieber’s tour site.

You can learn more about Aaron and his work on his blog or on Twitter.
