The Twelve Architect Modeling Roles in Enterprise Architecture

Presented By: Sam Holcman

Summary:

There is much confusion in the business and information communities as to the roles, responsibilities, job titles, and actual deliverables produced by people with various Architect titles.  The Enterprise Architecture Center Of Excellence (EACOE), in cooperation with our consulting organization, the Pinnacle Business Group, Inc., and with the assistance of some of our major Corporate and Government clients, defined the 12 Architect Modeling Roles in Enterprise Architecture.  These Roles define a set of mutually exclusive and collectively exhaustive set of descriptions that fully define the Architecture Models possible in an Enterprise Architecture.  A set of Implementation Models Roles, that use the artifacts and deliverables produced by the Architect Model Roles, is being defined, and will be formally introduced in 2012.

This presentation will begin with the definition of the frame of reference (the Framework) used for this effort, define the two types of models required for Enterprise Architecture – Architecture Models and Implementation Models, and the Model dependencies.  With this foundation, the twelve Architect Model Roles will be defined.

Data Visualization

Presented By: Jon Peltier

Summary:

Excel has extraordinary capabilities for manipulating data, and for formatting of the resulting tables and graphs. Recent versions of Excel provide all manner of special visual effects which unfortunately can overwhelm those reading the output. What many Excel users are unaware of is our own abilities. This talk will discuss the extensive capabilities - and shortcomings - of our visual and cognitive systems (our eyes and brain), and discuss how to make graphical data presentations more effective by tailoring them to match our cognitive abilities.

Speaker Information:

Jon Peltier is president of Peltier Technical Services and author of the associated web site and blog. Jon has transformed his training and experience in Research and Engineering into an extensive expertise in Excel charting and programming. Jon's projects include charting, reporting, and automation for clients in a wide range of industries. Jon has developed a number of commercial Excel add-ins that provide charting capabilities beyond those built into Excel. Jon's web site and blog include detailed tutorials in programming and especially in charting. Jon is recognized as one of the foremost experts in Excel graphical data presentation.
