Our meetings are open to all experience levels, from total novices to expert Rubyists.

- "Parsing Federal Campaign Finance Information" by Derek Willis - Follow the money! Learn about Fech and Campaign Cash, two open-source gems that The New York Times uses (and you can too!) to parse FEC filings and provide a ruby wrapper for The NYT's campaign finance API.
- "Developing with Production Data Snapshots" by Clif Reeder - Want to develop and debug against a real-world data set, but have a production database that's huge and contains private information? Clif will walk you through a case study on how Vox Media pares a 100GB database down into a 600MB subset that's anonymized, maintains data integrity and intelligently shares assets stored on Amazon's S3 service.
We now meet monthly at Logik headquaters, located on the 3rd floor at 709 G Street NW, Washington, DC 20001. The closest Metro stop is Gallery Place / Chinatown (Red line).
We always need presenters, so if you have a topic or project on which you'd like to do a 30-minute presentation on anything Ruby-related, Rails-related or possibly of interest to Ruby developers, please email me at josephgrossberg at gmail.com and we'll schedule you to speak. If have presented before, you are welcome to give a presentation on a new topic. This is a great chance for some of you guys and gals lingering in the back of the room to share some of the cool things you are working on. Don't be shy -- you're among fellow geeks. :)
As always, we'll have an ample supply of free pizza and soda for all attendees, so don't worry about eating dinner beforehand.
And we'll be heading around the corner to Rocket Bar for a beer or two after the meeting, to unwind and socialize with fellow techies.
