Topic: Surfing your media with Roku and node.js

In this presentation, we'll cover creating a simple, yet effective media server using node.js. We'll also look at serving content from this media server to an inexpensive and powerful set top box -- the Roku.We'll walk through the steps of indexing media directories, gathering thumbnails/album art, and finally playing this media back on a custom Roku channel/application.

Ernest Wilkerson is a Savannah, GA native and relatively new to the Charlotte, NC area. For the past eight years, Ernest has primarily functioned as a C/C++ & .NET software engineer and enterprise consultant. Before coming to Charlotte to begin work on a new product line for a local multinational media company, Ernest designed and delivered technical solutions for enterprise clients while working for Blackbaud, Inc. (Nasdaq: BLKB) and Lockheed Martin Information Technology (NYSE: LMT).
