The meeting Tuesday 7/17/2012 will be a little different than most. This time we are going to have 3 quick 15 minute presentations and finish up with an interactive session determined by what you want to see. The three short presentations will be:

  1. Starting New Web Projects – Alex Dresko will be showing how he configures his new web applications for maximum productivity. In addition to spelling out his secret sauce for starting new MVC/HTML5/Javascript projects, he explains why he includes certain libraries or NUGET packages. If you are nice to him, he might even create a Visual Studio template and let us have a copy of it.

  2. Lessons Learned on My First Windows 8 App – John Spano will show his first Windows 8 proof of concept application on his tablet and discuss a few lessons he wish he had before starting on this project.

  3. Being More Productive – I have been reviewing project/task management applications lately. They have come a long way over the past several years in terms of ease or use and price. I will cover 4 different applications that you can use for issue or defect tracking or just to track your personal tasks. If you have a team of developers, there are some free web based applications that will allow your team to be more productive. Just because they are free does not mean that they aren’t good. I was amazed at the functionality available for free.

After these presentations, the presenters will each go to a table. You will then be able to go to the different tables and ask questions and possibly even play with the applications. This should be much more interactive than our normal meetings.

Find Great People will be sponsoring the meeting this month.
