The New England Microsoft Developers (f/k/a New England Visual Basic Professionals) will meet at 201 Jones Rd in Waltham, MA on Thursday Dec. 6th. Kevin Ford of Magenic will demonstrate present:

Building Windows Store Applications

Windows Store Applications are new applications written using VS 2012 to work with the Intel and ARM versions of Windows 8 such as the Surface. This presentation will look into concrete code examples of writing these applications in C# including application lifecycle management (debugging the suspend request), new features to asynchronous programming, accessing hardware components through WinRT including files and the camera, setting up application permissions and connecting to external services (that data has to be stored somewhere).

Kevin Ford is a practice lead in the application Development space at Magenic Technologies, Inc. and has been in consulting and application development for nearly 20 years. During that time he worked with FoxPro, VB, COM, .NET, and C#. He has quite a lot of experience with CSLA, having been involved in its inception in the mid-1990’s. When not developing business systems for clients or looking at new technologies he restores old air cooled cars and runs a B&B in Connecticut.
