Mel Sampat is a seasoned iOS developer and rookie angel investor. He was previously a program manager at Microsoft, cofounded Cupidtino and Mist Labs, and currently leads the mobile efforts at H&L, a stealth mode startup in San Francisco. He has been covered by the WSJ, Bloomberg BusinessWeek, TUAW, and a number of iOS-related blogs. With a long career building mobile apps going all he the way back to the Palm and Windows Mobile days, he is interested in helping nurture other mobile startups. His investments are focused on iOS apps, specifically those focused on productivity and time management. He particularly enjoys working with teams that espouse simplicity and great design. You can follow Mel on Twitter at @melsam.

 

Jay Jamison, Partner, joined BlueRun Ventures in November 2010 and is based in Menlo Park. He focuses on early stage mobile, consumer and enterprise opportunities.

Jay has 12 years of product management and marketing experience in the software and internet industry. Previous experience includes leading Microsoft Japan?s Windows Business Group as Senior Director, and other senior level roles at Microsoft in product management and marketing. Jay also successfully founded and led Moonshoot, a venture backed online English education service for children.

Jay is a popular speaker on topics of entrepreneurship and building businesses. He has been a featured speaker at the Startup Digest University, the Hacker Dojo, and the Founders Showcase. He is also a Mentor at the Founders Institute.

He received his MBA from the University of Pennsylvania?s Wharton School of Business and holds a BA from Duke University.

Fred Dewey

Fred Dewey is veteran technology executive. He is currently the co-Founder and CEO of Kachingle, helping app developers to receive reliable ongoing revenue. Prior to that he was the successful turnaround CEO of Complemar Partners, a New York-based internet marketing and fulfillment house. In the 1990?s he was an early employee at Portal Software as its Worldwide VP of Sales Engineering, and was instrumental in driving the company?s revenue growth from $1 million to $300 million per year in just 5 years. He cut his teeth as an engineering and sales executive at Sun Microsystems and Hewlett-Packard.

Kachingle is a platform that allows web and mobile app vendors and cloud services providers to team up and co-market their complementary apps and services to their users, in the form of bundles for a recurring subscription fee. Because the value of these bundles is so compelling, users who normally would not subscribe to an individual app or service will actually sign up to start paying ongoingly. And app vendors get a reliable ongoing revenue stream and access to eachother's users.

Greg Mandanis

Scrum Master/QA Automation at YouScreenWriter.com

Greg Mandanis is the author of the best-selling Software Project Management Kit For Dummies (Wiley and Sons), and The Genes of Wrath, from The Man From V.E.N.U.S. Series, first edition published by Dry Bones Press.

He works as a software Agile program manager, and is co-founder and president of YouScreenWriter.com, the first one-stop-shop social media network where aspiring content creators can write, publish and monetize quality content all online with only a web browser.

Michael Fedyna

Grocerize will solve the problems between meal inspiration and grocery procurement, connecting shoppers at the point of relevance with local grocery retailers and food brands.

Katherina Nguyen

Strategic UI/UX designer, Co-founder at PenFM

Katherina is a strategic UI/UX designer with graphic branding chops. She is a recent grad from Stanford University currently living in San Francisco. She has a history of clients ranging from VCs at firms like Khosla to Senator-elects to former VMWare execs to the Director of Cardiology at UCSF. She also staffs as resident designer at StartX Stanford Startup Accelerator.
In a previous life, she was an organizational management researcher and is still passionate about creative tech communities. She is happiest being challenged. Kat is currently working on PenFM with her cofounder, Michael Siedlecki, who she met while previously working at an epublishing company. Taking the insights they've learned, they plan to tackle the inefficiencies of the epublishing industry and reinspire the writer in everyone.

Eric Tao

Innovate, Integrate and Inspire

Dr. Eric Tao is a professor of School of Information Technology and Communication Design (ITCD) at California State University Monterey Bay
since 1998 and serves as director of the school since 2005.  The School offers several undergraduate and graduate degree programs. He also directs of theInstitute for Innovation and Economic Development. Supported by Economic Development Administration of United States, the Institute serves the Greater Monterey Bay region by providing a venue for innovative ideas, the commercial transfer of research and technology, and a support network for start-ups and entrepreneurs.

Dr. Tao has taught and conducted research in information technology, innovation, e-learning and globalization. He has published numerous academic papers in educational technology, globalization, medical image processing and higher education. He often speaks at international conferences on global technology, innovation and education issues. He also serves as judges at many business plan competitions.

He currently serves as a board member of Leadership Monterey Peninsula, Zeuss Group Inc. and CALMAT - California University of Management and Technology. His past board services including Substantive Change Committee of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC), one of the six accreditation bodies sanctioned by the U.S. Department of Education, Digital Technology advisor for the National Health Research Institute of the Republic of China, Marina Technology Cluster and University Corporation.

Between 1987 and 1992, he worked for RMO Inc as Chief Software Engineer. Between 1992 and 1997, he co-founded and worked as CEO of WingTech Corporation, a firm that specialized in industrial and medical image-based inspection systems.

Eric Tao received his Ph.D. in Computer Engineering from the University of California, Irvine, M.S. in Computer and Information Science from the New Jersey Institute of Technology. Bachelor's degree is in Electrical Engineering is from National Sun Yat Sen University.

 

David Downes

Founder, CEO and Gamemaster at YouGaming

David has over 20 years of marketing, sales and engineering experience with leading network equipment and wireless telecommunications companies such as Cisco and AirTouch (now Verizon Wireless). He has previous startup experience, having co-founded a wireless company, obtained VC funding, and qualified as a bidder in the December 2000 US PCS spectrum auction.
Recently, David completed the Master of Hospitality Administration program from the Harrah Hotel College at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. In addition, David holds a MBA from National University, a MSEE and BSEE from California State University, Sacramento, and is a licensed Electrical Engineer in the State of California.

Chris Hohman

Founder, CEO at Connect6

Chris has spent over 15 yrs in product management, marketing and engineering, at companies ranging from newly minted start-ups to fortune 100 companies.  In 2009, Chris successfully founded and ran a multinational management consulting firm that partnered with Yahoo, Backcountry.com, B&K batteries (China), and several start-ups.

Chris has an MBA from Santa Clara University, completed graduate work at Stanford, and holds a BSME from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo.
