Through estimation we guard against excessively large work items entering the development workflow. A consistent reduction in work item size smooths development flow and facilitates a consistent release of value out of the development process and into the production environment. The ability to assess the potential cycle time to deliver any given work item is fundamental if we are to achieve this goal.
This talk discusses two estimation methods that help us achieve the objective of high quality estimation conducted just-in-time. They are: Dynamic Range Estimation (DRE) and Limited Days Estimation (LDE).
