Capacitive touch sensors, accelerometers and similar devices have made possible the technology from touch screens to your favorite video game controller. What about smell? How do animals and humans achieve the sense of smell and what sensors are available to help us simulate or improve this sense? The advancement of nanowire and nanoparticle manufacturing has enabled many developments in the area of chemical sensors and their ability to detect and characterize molecules present in the environment around us. Learn about the unique electrical properties of these devices and explore potential uses ranging from the detection of disease to explosive identification.
