Topic: Visual Design Languages and Material Design
Material Design is a new visual design language developed by Google that makes it a lot easier to create an intuitive user experience as well as a consistent look and feel across the web sites in your company. Whether you're a programmer, designer, or UXer, this meeting will show you how to make use of ready-made and high-quality visual design guidelines and tools.
The presentation will cover: - A brief history of visual design guidelines, with samples - Principles of Material Design - Principles of adaptive UI - Resources and libraries for Material Design
Our speaker, Anna Kepler, has that rare combination of both left-brain and right-brain talents. Anna works as a data engineer at ViaSat Inc., where she is also a member of the User Experience Council. Earlier she worked as a full-stack developer, designing and developing web applications used for real-time monitoring and network management. Faced with challenges of efficiently visualizing and displaying data, Anna became interested in the UX (user experience) design field. UX design is her hobby and she is always looking for frameworks and libraries that employ principles of good design and allow for rapid web development.
