Abstract :

The PMO Role in Realizing the Value of Project Management

Where’s the value of doing all this project management stuff? If you are a PMO leader, executive, or a manager of project managers, you’ll find plenty to consider attending this session. Learn about realizing the value of implementing project management from a panel of three PMO leaders.

PMI research findings released in 2008 concluded unequivocally that implementing project management in organizations delivers value. Given PMOs are usually the frontline champions for establishing PM, our panel members will describe how their PMOs identify, develop, realize, and communicate PM value in their organizations. We’ll discuss the all-important ‘fit’ of PM activities to the organization, as well as what happens when the value may wane and what it means to the sustainability of the PMO. We’ll explore the types of value that PM creates, and how PMO stakeholders perceive that value.

A brief 5-minute overview of the major findings of PMI’s Researching the Value of Project Management - 2008 will precede the panel discussion. Audience questions and answers will follow the panel discussion.
