Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 (WSS) allows any organization to quickly setup a collaboration platform for their users sitting on top of Windows Server 2003/2008 with a SQL 2005 database. Windows Powershell is the new extensible command-line shell we can run on any Windows Server or desktop that allows for automating administrative tasks, executing any other command-line toolset, or for calling any regular .NET class, including those for the SharePoint platform.
In this presentation we'll go over what Powershell can do, how to call it to perform server operations making them schedulable tasks, and learn how to control SharePoint (and update it!) through the exposed .NET classes. By the end of the demonstration you'll have a good understanding of the "power of Powershell", how it can relate to almost anything we do, and hopefully how to begin using to solve your opportunities.
