8:15 Automated Provisioning and Deployment
Automated Provisioning and Deployment is something that every software shop or operations group dreams about but rarely seems to successfully implement. In today's dynamic datacenters full of distributed applications, clouds, virtual machines on demand and other moving targets, keeping track of servers and ensuring the right code has been tested and successfully deployed is a huge challenge. Automated provisioning and deployment helps standardize the creation of servers or VM's and ensures they are integrated into the software deployment lifecycle.
Dan will discuss various methods and challenges around automating server/VM provisioning and automated software deployment though the entire SDLC as well as some challenges of source code management and application configuration management. Every organization whether you host your software in house or in the cloud should be able manage all aspects of provisioning with automation to provide consistent, repeatable, reliable, and auditable actions. He will introduce some techniques and tools to support fully automated provisioning and deployment.
About the Speaker:
Dan Nemec, currently Technical Lead of Engineering Solutions at Silverpop, brings 12 years of operations and solution architecture experience of Software As A Service applications. Previously he was Senior Solution Architect at Harbinger/Inovis where he led the effort to improve the operational and deployment functionality their custom built, hosted applications. He continued that effort at Silverpop by introducing automated provisioning and deployment. Nemec graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering.
Bring your AWS hats and let's show the rest of the "Cloud" world that Hotlanta is no slouch when it comes to clouds.
