This month, we'll be having a more formal meeting with presentations! Lisa Ridley is going to give a brief follow-up presentation on memcached, and Jeremy Clifton will be presenting "An Introduction to JQuery" which will include how to make basic AJAX requests to PHP scripts.

We'll also be giving away a book from O'Reilly (Even Faster Web Sites) that has been graciously provided by their User Group program. If you're not already familiar with their User Group program, you should know that our group members can save 35% on any O'Reilly book when using the discount code DSUG when purchasing!

Also, we're starting something new at this month's meeting ... we'll be doing a code review session. If you'd like to submit some code for review during the session, email Jeremy ([email protected]) and we'll work out the details. If you want to remain anonymous, that's not a problem. If we don't have any code submissions, we'll review code from popular open source projects. Our hope is that we can all learn how to write better, tighter code in PHP through this!

Finally, I'd like to take this opportunity to note that Cameron Kilgore and Lisa Ridley have volunteered to help organize this group, and they are now assistant organizers. Going forward, things are going to be a bit more structured than they have been in the past ... and we're also working on a new venue for our meetings that will be a little more family-friendly and a bit more suited to our meetings. Once we get that ironed out, we're going to re-start our tradition of doing an after-meeting social. Stay tuned for details ... we may even be in our new venue this month!
