Jeff will be demonstrating a full featured Flash video chat application. Participants will be able to ask questions about Flash Media Server while Jeff explains the benefits of full multimedia Flash applications working with XML and web services. The application previewed will showcase Flash, .php, MySQL, Access, .asp, live webcam feeds and how Flash be used to create secure asynchronous web applications and interactive forms to gather content from users without reloading the pager or visible source code for people to reverse engineer applications. The demonstration will consist of a user login using Flash connecting to a .php service to authenticate users against database. Flash will access the webcam to create an image that will be sent to a .asp service to save the image to the server then load the image as a preview for a live streaming video like a youtube thumbnail. Flash will be used to start the users webcam and microphone and start broadcasting a live video feed. Participants will be asked to login and participate Jeff will have a few extra webcams with microphones but if you could bring your own that would help ensure everyone has one many laptops have built in webcams and microphones. Flash Media Server and the provide a list of connected users with real time data synchronization to maintain a list of all users currently logged in. Jeff will be happy to answer any questions about the database, Flash connecting to Active Server Pages, uploading images, streaming video, Flash Media Server and ActionScript 3.0.
