Many Rubyists seek beauty in code, but thanks to projects like Processing and Context-Free, code can create beauty. In this session well take a look at generative art and give you the tools to begin experimenting.
The goal of this session is to get participants to actually try generating art. We know that photography and musical expression are popular among many Rubyists why not code some visual art?
Its surprisingly easy to create some fascinating designs using Context Free, and thanks to the commoditization of high-quality photo printshops you can create wall-sized prints for just a few dollars. With repositories of user-contributed public code, there are great programs to start experimenting.
In this session well look at the tools, some of the existing examples, then tweak and generate art in real-time. Attendees will receive the context-free libraries and sample code so they can experiment while following along and, hopefully, become coding artists.
