Synopsis:
Over the last few years, the GIS (Geospatial Information Systems) world has seen dramatic changes. A field of expertise that once belonged to researchers, government institutions and specialist businesses has flowered into billion dollar industry with extensive applications in all walks of life.
In this presentation, we will discuss:
- What is geospatial data and where can I get it?
- How do I store it, manipulate it and query it?
- How do I present it to the user?
Ill use PHP code, software libraries and modules to show you how to add WHERE to your websites.
Speaker Biography
As a Web Developer in the Geospatial team at Opus International Consultants, Hamish provides online tools for displaying, analysing and interacting with spatial data. He also provides web development support for a wide range of client websites specialising in business analytics and optimization software, as well as mobile application development. He is a keen supporter of Open Source software, runs the SilverStripe Auckland Users Group and champions the use of Open Source GIS solutions within New Zealand.
