February 10, 2010 Lunch 2.0 Augmented Reality
The next Lunch 2.0 will be on February 10 at Giordanos on South Dale Mabry in Tampa at 11:30am.
Augmented Reality has been described as the real world meets the virtual world. AR overlays virtual information onto real information, and holds a huge potential to change the way people advertise, how we search, and how we relate to each other. A number of industries, such as health care, will also find AR applications that are immediately useful to them. Other areas include education and training, real estate, product information, entertainment and many others.
You will be hearing a lot more about AR as time goes on for the PC and many other devices. AR truly has the potential to change the way we work. Our interactions with our computers will change significantly with AR applications. With the advent of Smart Phones and the proliferation of next generation wireless networks, a number of AR applications are already available on these phones, as well. For example, there are applications available on advanced phones that allow an individual to hold their phone up to a location so that the information about the location is overlaid on the screen.
So, please join us at our next Lunch 2.0 session to learn more about this exciting new technology. Our speaker will be Sean Carey of HD Interactive, who will review the various technologies that can be used for Augmented Reality solutions and show us samples of current AR implementations. The session will also briefly cover how to outline the steps to develop an AR solution for your company (and tailor it to your budget). We will also get a glimpse into the future of AR including mobile, gaming, 3D TV, tablet computing, and more.
