Who should attend?
Anyone who is working for startups that is thinking about using the cloud should attend. Although, the cloud has removed the barrier to entry to own a data center, it has not removed the barrier to manage it. Any system administrators who manage small to medium data centers might also be interesting in hearing how some of the newly formed cloud based data centers are being managed.
Presenters:
Josh Timberman has over 10 years experience in Linux and Unix system administration. He has worked for companies from 5 person startups, up to the largest IT company in the world. His background includes deploying highly available enterprise application environments and providing internal infrastructure services and team-based training. Joshua also worked extensively with Puppet, using it to bootstrap secured infrastructure for a medium sized company. He also worked as a consultant to fully automate Ruby on Rails application deployment with Puppet and Capistrano. He currently works for Opscode, where he is an infrastructure cooking expert with Chef. Joshua wrote the majority of the 80+ cookbooks that Opscode publishes for end-users to use in their own environments.
John Willis has worked in the IT management industry for more than 30 years. Prior to joining Opscode, Willis founded Gulf Breeze Software, an award winning IBM business partner, which specializes in deploying Tivoli technology for the enterprise. A leading infrastructure management architect in the enterprise systems management category, Willis has delivered more than 10,000 hours of training on IBM Tivoli products around the world and is recognized as an industry expert in enterprise systems management and monitoring. Willis has authored six IBM Redbooks for IBM on enterprise systems management and was the founder and chief architect at Chain Bridge Systems. He is also known internationally for his IT Management and Cloud blog, JohnMWillis.com, and is the co-host of Redmonk IT Management Guys, podcast series as well as hosting two additional podcasts on cloud computing: Cloud Cafe Cloud Droplets.
