Date: Tuesday 17 June 2008........Presented by Mike Taulty. Silverlight is Microsoft's new cross-browser, cross-platform plug-in for delivering rich media experiences and interactive applications for the Web. Silverlight provides a highly productive platform for designers and developers to collaborate in building a new generation of web experiences enabling you to build visually stunning interactive content and applications that run on multiple browsers and operating systems. Invite us for a spin around the XAML Canvas to experience the capabilities of the Silverlight platform. We'll take an in depth look at what Silverlight is and how we can make use of it in web applications. We'll look at both the 1.0 and 1.1 versions of the technology and probe into the programming model and tools you'll need to build compelling Silverlight applications. We'll also look at some related topics such as calling back-end services and asynchronous content download. Mike Taulty works in the Developer and Platform Group at Microsoft in the UK where he has spent the past few years helping developers understand and get the best from the Microsoft platform. Prior to this, Mike spent 3 years with Microsoft Consulting Services as a consultant on developer technologies. PLEASE ARRIVE FROM 18.00 FOR PROMPT START AT 18.30

This time we're trying something different:We all learn in different ways. While it can be good to learn by hearing people present and demonstrate new techniques, it can also be good to learn by seeing how different people solve the same problem.  That's what we hope to do at the CodeFest. The plan is for everyone to write automated players for a simple game.  Don't worry if this sounds complicated, it will only involve implementing an interface containing 4 methods.
