Hello Seattle Ruby on Rails Meetup Group! I'm excited to announce our 2nd Ruby on Rails Educational/Networking Meetup Event!
You may have heard how wonderfully successful our last networking and educational meetup event was. Don't miss this one! It's totally free and is a great way to meet and mingle with the best Ruby and Rails devs and companies in the northwestbe sure to RSVP and let us know you'll be there!
When: Tuesday, March 30, 2010 6:30 PM
Where:
Spitfire
2219 4th Ave
Seattle, WA 98121
(206) 441-7966
Like the last event, we'll have two prominent companies from the Seattle area in attendance to give short presentations on how they're utilizing Ruby and Rails in their respective technologies. Then they stick around to hang out with us! There will also be ample time before and after the presentations to network, hang out, and meet new people, so get ready to do some "bumping!"
We're fortunate to have the following presenters booked for this event:
One Hub
Leigh Caplan and Andrew Loe III from One Hub will be there to present:
"Putting all of the Pieces Together" - We in the Ruby community are lucky to have a plethora of great tools and services at our disposal. But when it gets down to brass tacks, how do you string together these disparate pieces and automate real-life processes in a team development environment? We'll go over how we use popular products at Onehub like Git, Github, Lighthouse, Hoptoad, RSpec, and our own open source Buildmeister to ease the tracking, reporting, testing, and fixing of bugs, and make deployment a quick, stress-free, and pleasure-filled event. You'll get the why and the how."
One Hub are even pitching in to buy everyone a round of beers - thanks One Hub!
Jeremy Lightsmith and Wes Maldonado
Our second presenters will be Jeremy Lightsmith and Wes Maldonado who will talk about Agile Development in the Rails World.
Jeremy and Wes have been writing Rails code for startups for over 5 years, and have been developing for a lot longer than that. They worked together at Pivotal Labs, a startup dev shop in San Francisco.
Today, Jeremy helps software teams get more productive with tools like Agile & Lean & Rails.
And Wes has been snatched up by Whitepages.com who are very happy to have him helping them with Rails and with Scrum.
