BuyYourCar.co.uk is a newly-launched website providing a unique offering in the car sales industry.
We are looking for a Senior Developer to join the team and help to
drive the site development forward as we constantly introduce new
functionality and improvements.
You will be part of a small team, and have the
opportunity to join the company at a time of exciting growth. The role
will involve picking up the existing development work, and also working
on new and challenging projects.

Location
The role will be based long-term in the Midlands, but you must be
willing to work from Bristol for the initial few weeks. After this
period, you will be based in our Birmingham office.
The Role
You will work on every aspect of technical development, from
requirement analysis, design, development, testing through to
deployment and the management of the production environment.
You will have a strong commercial development
experience of 6+ years and at least 3-4 years strong C# and ASP.NET
development experience. You should also have 4-5 years strong SQL
Server experience with skills to create and maintain stored procedures,
manage database objects and perform data optimisation tasks as
necessary. Experience in handling large data volumes is essential.
Knowledge of latest web technologies is required, as is a genuine interest and passion for the web.
You will be maintaining different versions of the code. Due to the
nature of the project, you will work in an environment requiring small
and frequent functional releases.
This role is a proactive one where the individual
is expected to be self-motivated and proactive as a key member of a
small, growing start-up company. You will be expected to be very
“hands-on” and competent with technical work in a small business
environment.
Outline of Responsibilities
- Handle change requests and provide quick and efficient solutions
- Analyse business requirements and transform them into technical design
- Implement the design to develop and test the functional requirements
- Source code maintenance
- Administer development and production environments. This includes websites and databases
- Continuously monitor website and database performance
- Proactively provide ideas and solutions towards the improvement of the site and the business.
- Interact with business development and marketing team to understand the business requirements
- Provide effort estimates and prioritise tasks
- Provide timely functional releases so as to meet fast changing business requirements
- Assess risk and impact on the existing system that may arise due to any requirement or functional change

<ul><li><font face="Verdana" size="2">You should have experience with .NET Framework 1.1 and higher</font></li><li><font face="Verdana" size="2">Strong understanding and hands on experience of C#, ASP.NET, ADO.NET using Visual Studio.NET 2003</font></li><li><font face="Verdana" size="2">Experience with maintaining SQL Server 2000 objects and handling performance issues</font></li><li><font face="Verdana" size="2">Knowledge of XML, XHTML, XMLHTTP would be an added advantage</font></li></ul>
