  I have been playing around with db4o for a couple of months now. If you want your application to just store some date then I can realy advice the use of db4o. It is extreamly easy to use, its fast, You only need 1 extra dll in your solution (.net).  It's flexible and powerfull. I also played around with the ASP.net profile provider for db4o. (see db40 community projects) That works great and you can install it on your web server if your providers alows .net to run in full trust.
