.Net Developers slump in the UK market space!

  Hello Fellow Bods

   I am a specilist IT Recruiter currently specialising in .Net roles. I am very surprised at the lack of candidates in the UK market currently. I am trying too recruit for a large hosting/ISP firm looking for a experianced .Net Developer looking to pay upto £50k on that base, but have no candidates avalible to speak to.

   My Question therefore is where are you all? I am fairly new to the whole .Net framwork and unlike other recruiters i do like to know what im recruiting for. I have done a few .Net begginers courses so know what the work entails. The UK economy was taken into consideration, However a recssion is a way out in my estimation. This cant be the cause of the .Net Slump.

   If you are an experianced .Net bod looking or not looking for a new role please contact me. I would be very interested to hear what is going on at the moment.

  I'm a UK computer science graduate (University of Birmingham) currently looking for a carear in programming / software development.

   I see a lot of .NET programming jobs available.  But I have this problem:  I've never touched .NET.  My university didn't teach it (nor does any other that I have so far come across).  I don't see any .NET courses obviously available and .NET trainee jobs are few and hard to come by.

  If you want .NET programmers, why not train some?

  Most programmers worth half their salary are able to pick a new language and use it competently in a couple of months.
   
  Sorry for the rant but it's frustrating to hear people crying out for experienced .NET programmers when no-one seems willing to offer the experience.

  The problem i'm facing is that recruiters want ".net programmers with 4 or more years of actual work experience" now. i've been doing .net since the early days. churned out lots of products, some even freelance for companies, but i don't have 4+ years of "work experience". atmost 1-2. so that's a stumbling block for me personally. no one seems to want to give the new guy a chance, besides, experience is relative anyway.

  Surely 1-2 years is suffice if you can prove you've works at capacity and done all you can to gain experience.

  I went for an interview at the age of 16, straight out of school for a web developer job and I didn't expect to get that far! The reason I did was because I'd been running my own web design business for 2 years (despite them wanting 4) and marketed what I could actually do effectively. Being young helps because they can see enthusiasm a mile off.
  

  Have you tried contacting these places? If you don't ask, you can't be rejected or accepted!
