.Net framework Pros and Cons

  What are the Pros and Cons of the .Net framework when using WPF? There have been some criticisms of WPF and its slow performance, does this have anything to do with the .Net framework? Or more so because of its reliance on RUI's and XAML? Anytime I've used the .Net framework and WPF to create apps I've never run into any of these issues.
