AD Authentication from outside the AD....!?

Hi, I have a webserver in the DMZ of our company network. It can still see internal servers but it cannot - obviosly - authenticate against the Active Directory. I need to secure the websites I am putting on the internet so that people have to log in with AD credentials to use them. Anybody have any idea how I could implement this? Any ideas would be great. Thanks Tom. p.s. My best guess at the moment is to have an application on the internal servers that takes in username and password as parameters and the website in the DMZ can fire a shell command at the internal server and pass in these credentials to verify.... or something.
