serial communication from microcontroller to pc

  Hi all, I am sending an ascii value of a character or number from microcontroller to the PC through RS232 cable(my application is like a mini keyboard).I want pc to detect that ascii value and print corresponding character or letter in MS-WORD.How can I go about it? I dont know much about VB but i heard that it can be done using mscomm. Please someone help me in writing code for this.
