Will certifications maximise the chances of getting first job?

Hello all, I need you suggestions, please:

    ONE:

I finished my Bachelors and Masters in IT but unfortunately do not have IT job experience. What will be the chances of getting a job in software development/programming, if I have some certifications but not experience?

TWO: If certifications would make a big difference, which certifications would you recommend?

I thank you in advance for your valuable suggestions.

I really think the situation is not easy now for us IT professionals. So dont expect it to be easy. It can be quite hard to start in I.T. Many programmers are now working on contract and dont even have permanent offers. I think your best bet is to try to find a job placement (intern) as a trainee programmer for a couple of months just to get the ball rolling and then you'll be stronger to face contract work.

There is another actual tendency where IT professionals are now heading towards small and medium industries. I read about that on ITJOBLOG.. Have a look, am sure you'll find some useful info there. Good luck in your job hunting. All the best.

1.Certificates will benefit in one way or the others. If you apply for graduate position, it's by default that youhave little to zero experience in the industry then certificates and degree GPA are factors that will be looked at.

    1. Depending on which branch of IT you want to be in. Like in JAva then SCJP is definite a plus. Look at http://jobhits.co.uk/jobs/k-java%2Bdeveloper.html for example. SCJP is mentioned many time in different job ads so it will definitely help.

Good luck with your upcoming endeavor.

    Cheers
