Rumors

Scott Guthrie talked to the Linked-In User Group

Office online (powered by Silverlight!) is coming out.

There are *lots* of ways to install Silverlight as an admin (including SMS and Group Policy, etc.).

Future pace of Silverlight releases… Scott didn’t really answer, but he pointed out the progress that has been made (appearing on more devices, outside the browser, etc.).  Scott also pointed out that there *are* differences between the Silverlight implementations.

Scott is looking at richer MVVM (ViewModel) tooling.  Erik often suggests this, and the community hates it :)

WPF vs Silverlight – Erik thinks the main reason to use WPF is now direct database access.  There are some exceptions (3D etc.) but the thing that should drive you to is the easier database access.  RIA Services and Data Services are harder than opening a DataReader.

Scott says that Microsoft is looking at (though certainly not comitting to…) Android support.  Brian points out that Monotouch is looking at this as well.  Erik points out that he wants native, seemless integration with the underlying platform.  Brian points out that Flash integration points can be weak.
