Sun integrates Embarcadero Describe

This article was originally published in VSJ, which is now part of Developer Fusion.
The ‘Describe’ Unified Modelling Language (UML) from Embarcadero Technologies is being integrated with Sun Java Studio Enterprise. Describe enables developers to create visual UML-based models of applications, which can be converted into Java code. The connection between model and code is two-way, and the program code and the UML models are always synchronised. Existing code can also be converted into a visual UML model, which can help with analysis and reverse engineering.

Java Studio is Sun’s latest attempt at creating an IDE for Java. The promise of an integrated UML modeller brings it in line with Microsoft’s plans to build life cycle management tools into Visual Studio.
