DataDirect Connect for .NET release 2.1 is a data provider that allows .NET applications to make use of Oracle, SQL Server, DB2, Sybase and PL/SQL tables. The latest version claims to be 100 percent managed code, so that you can use it in any .NET language, and be sure of its security. It also includes performance improvements and better connection fail-over and client-side load balancing.

Specific enhancements include support for SQL Server Named Instances and Windows Authentication, support for new Oracle 10g datatypes and for Oracle RAC, and the ability to use the PL/SQL Table type as input parameters to stored procedures. It implements additional DB2 provider features, including password and user id encryption, while supporting distributed transactions and improving bulk operations and batch update performance. It also supports the latest version of the Sybase Adaptive Server.
