New API for tapping into gigantic fashion database
Sugar Inc has released a new API that will allow developers to seamlessly tap into its extensive database of clothing and accessories and incorporate the data across various applications.
In this context it is interesting to note that about a year back, Sugar Inc had acquired ShopStyle which essentially is a search engine for clothing and fashion and boasts of indexing numerous brands and stores along with their pictures, descriptions and prices.
The new ShopStyle API can be deployed across a plethora of applications including social networking websites like Facebook or Myspace and can even be used for developing applications for iPhone and other such devices.
The new API which is essentially made up of HTTP GET requests can effortlessly be used from Java or a PHP based development context owing to its client language independent nature.
In addition the API features a number of key methods like ‘apiGetBrands’ and ‘apiGetRetailers’ for retrieve specific information.
