MySQL co-founder quits Sun
David Axmark, co-founder of MySQL and the driving force behind it's GPL license has quit Sun saying "I am better off in smaller organisations. I HATE all the rules that I need to follow, and I also HATE breaking them.".
Axmark co-founded MySQL with Michael "Monty" Widenius, the primary architect of the original MySQL database – and his departure comes as no surprise according to a blog post by Arnö, Sun's VP of community of relations.
Sun acquired MySQL in January when it bought the open source database developer for $1bn, but this latest departure raises questions over the on-going health of the MySQL team since the aquisition.
