James first started this website when learning Visual Basic back in 1999 whilst studying his GCSEs. The site grew steadily over the years while being run as a hobby - to a regular monthly audience of over half a million unique developers. In July '08 James left his job as Head of Development at a digital agency in London to focus his energies on developerFusion full-time.
There are a number of other features that are common to both RoboHelp HTML and RoboHelp Classic, which I will cover briefly below.
Useful additions are features such as a smart index wizard and the smart glossary wizard to automatically generate index and keyword entries for your helpfile. Obviously, these are not always accurate, but still provide a useful way to at least partially generate your keywords and definitions.
RoboHelp can also generate a wide range of customizable reports. These include general reports such as a list of table of contents, index and keywords, to detailed reports on topic properties, unreferenced topics, images used in the topics and plenty of other items. All these reports can then be copied, exported or emailed using your default email client.
The tools available include a software video camera to record videos for tutorials (though I needed an email to the tech support to get this working), a help-to-source for converting compiled *.hlp files to a RoboHelp editable format, and numerous winhelp bug hunters for detailed information on api calls, keywords lists, and more. (A bug hunter is integrated into RoboHelp HTML). There is also useful multi-file Find & Replace, and PC Help Desk for creating a database driven knowledge base for your users, and a number of other tools.
