bypass "Sonic Firewall"
-
just wanna know if, is it possible to bypass "Sonic Firewall" without using proxies....?
any comments will be greatly appreciated....
thanks.................
-
depends on....
1) what you mean by bypass.
2) the firewall rules
3) the network setup. -
Thanks for the reply.......
__________
yup, actually both of them.
for example i want to go to a certain website but it is block by Sonic.....
I want to know if is it possible to get through the Sonic stuff........ -
the only way i cna think of is with a proxy.
why can you not use a proxy ?
if security is an issue, do you have a home computer ?
you could setup your home computer as a proxie. (im assuming this firewall is on your work / college / school / university network) -

the BEST solution to your problem would be to contact your systems adminisrator, and request that the site you wish to view be un-blocked.
provided you have good reasons for viewing the site, then im sure you will be able to sort somthing out.
the other way would be to sue a public proxie, or setup your home machine as a proxie.
in either case, talk to the guy in charge of the firewall. -
thanks again.....
anyway, do you know how to make a public proxie????
(i really dont have any idea on this, im only knowledgeable on vb6.
)
forgive me on asking question again................ -
EEEASYYY...
use the "SQUID" http://www.squid-cache.org/
all Free and Open Source
install SQUID on your home computer, then either remember your home computers IP address or get a Free Dynamic DNS address (www.dyndns.org)
then set it as your http proxie from work / college / university, and you should be able to access your site... hoever.. make sure this isnt againsed the rules.
using a proxie to circumvent firewall's may get you in trouble.
Squid will run on he following Operating systems...
* Linux
* FreeBSD
* NetBSD
* OpenBSD
* BSDI
* Mac OS/X
* OSF/Digital Unix/Tru64
* IRIX
* SunOS/Solaris
* NeXTStep
* SCO Unix
* AIX
* HP-UX
* OS/2
and aparently, if you install a decent command line program like cygwin, it might even install on a windows machine. -
ei!!!
THANKS A LOTM YOUR REALLY A GURU.....
ANYWAYS I'LL TRY IT...........
THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR THE REPLIES....... -
actually you can bypass sonic firewall ive done it before.... mail me if you want do know how...
-
okey.....
how about other way from getting through Sonic w/o using proxie....?
or you really have to use proxie...?
thanks again...................
-
if your problem with sonic is to Access the web address that has been blocked by sonic firewall, then try this to access that address http://[ip address of the web page]. if its not working maybe bad luck in on your side on that moment...
-
ei!! thanks dude...!!! it work... but it only work on the first page....
ex. when i go to yahoo.com it goes there but when i tried to click on the mail icon or the mail link Sonic will block the site again..................
any other ides.....?????
thanks again.........
-
wow... this firefall must be very poor if it does not realise that different URL's can have the same IP.
anyways.... Proxie. its the only way. sorry, it just is.
why dont you want to use a proxie ? there are loads of free proxies, it takes 2 seconds to setup, and if securety is an issue, then setup your own proxie.
i dont understand the problem here. -
well im just trying to get through the sonic w/o using proxies coz proxies are also block by sonic.........
anyway thanks for your help..........
-
you mean the standard 8080 proxie port is blocked by sonic ?
use the squid, and set it up to listen on a standart port like 80. -
So how did you bypass the sonic firewall ? I have a few websites that are blocked at my work.
