How to disable Word add-ins and menus

I need to enable/disable add-ins I created when required. add-ins must only be available when word is opened from the app and not when the user opens word for some other reason. The same apply to certain menu items Initially I will only need Office 2003 compatinility but later 2007 I am developing in VB 2008
