VB console app - having trouble interacting with sharepoint site

  Hi,

  I am working with a console application that is reading off of a database a list of users, as well as looking at a file structure that will be copied to a sharepoint site. There are many teams that will each be getting a document library for their respective files and folders. I have a table that lists the users that should have permissions in each library, and the role they should be assigned. These users are in active directory.

  I am trying to find code that would input an AD user into a specified document library with a specified role, but am not having any luck. I have taken note of the 'ensureUser' command, but it does not appear to be able to target a document library (or i misunderstand it) and it applies users only as administrators. Does anyone have experience with this?
