Tabs not recognised in imported data

  I have a large system in which a pre-existing Excel file contains an auto-open macro which pastes the contents of the clipboard which holds several records of tabbed data created in Panorama (database management software).

  Using Excel v11.5 on a Mac and v10.0 and v12.0 in XP, this works fine. Using v12.0 in XP, the tab characters are not recognised and the tabbed data appears in the first cell of the relevant row, separated by spaces.

  Why? How do I overcome this problem?
