NYC Web Technologies Meetup

Are you able to keep track of all the new web technologies and trends happening today? I find myself routinely needing to do a quick search of the web to find out what a Cucumber or Scala entail, or what the latest IT acronym translates to. The aim of this group is to provide a more in-depth solution to some of these. The NYC Web Technologies Meetup will invite SMEs involved with these domains to introduce and detail these newer languages, tools, and trends. The group would meet ideally once a month. Each month we would tackle a selected topic. As each of our Meetups would be an introduction to a topic, we could probably partner with a range of Meetups already in NYC, which often specialize in a particular area or domain. If at the end of the night you felt drawn to the niche or domain they focus on, you would then have a natural place or path to continue on to explore and dig further into the topic. Meetings will start once we hit a critical mass of 50 people signing up. There will be no fees for this Meetup as my firm, the Eliassen Group, has promised to sponsor it, providing the location, and ideally some refreshments. The location will probably be in mid-town Manhattan. The list of what could be covered and introduced ranges from development platforms such as the Android and iOS, to the cloud, to development methodologies such as Agile and Scrum, to Drupal and other CMS platforms, to Selenium, TDD, and one of my personal quandaries - making sense of what a QA Test Developer is and does.
