Brooklyn Future Meetup Group @ drop.io (+30 years)

The Brooklyn Future Meetup (http://twitter.com/Y30, http://drop.io/Y30)

is designed as an authentic off the record forum for discussing what the world might look like in +30 years. Specifically, we ask which trends and technology are emerging today that will have formative effects on the world of tomorrow?

One thing that many people find troubling is our society's inability to think and plan more than a handful years into the future. It is frequently argued that Capitalism, at best, can muster about 5 years of prospective planning and that the best of governments might be able to think on a 10 year horizon. This relatively short term perspective is fully insufficient as we move towards an ever faster, more interconnected, and more dynamic world.

Therefore, the responsibility of examining such pressing questions is left to curious, intelligent, and dynamic people who will keep alive the discussion about the long-term implications of these emerging macro-trends. To this end, our Meetup will host a new topic long-term topic every month with a short presentation by a guest speaker followed by discussion and debate over libations.
