Refresh San Diego is an open community of web designers, developers, and marketers working to refresh the creative, technical, and professional culture of Internet in the San Diego area. Meetings are usually the second Tuesday of each month where we discuss anything from design to marketing and everything in between. Topics that we'll cover include: Design, Development, Marketing, Programming, Usability, Web 2.0, SEO, and more. Everyone interested in "refreshing" the Internet is welcome.

    September's Topic and Discussion: Google Wave: Reinventing Email Email is an ancient protocol--relative to how long the internet has existed, anyway. Google's out to reinvent email with an ambitious new product, Google Wave, which rolls email, instant messaging, document collaboration, and the realtime web into a single interface. Google Wave will be available to the public later this year, but right now a few folks have access to the developer preview.

    The future of browsers, the future of the WebIn mid-June, Opera Software unveiled a new technology/feature called Opera Unite, which boldy promised to "reinvent the Web". Lawrence Eng, a product analyst for Opera and member of RefreshSD, got to share Opera's vision for Opera Unite in a heavily-cited blog post: our Refresh meeting for August, Lawrence will demo Opera Unite, explain what it's all about, and discuss what it might mean for the future of browsers and the Web itself.
