Austin OpenStreetMappers

We are a group interested in the OpenStreetMap project. It's the 'Wikipedia' of maps...free for anyone to use and edit. Add your favorite trail, restaurant, or whatever...it's easy and fun!

We hold meet ups in the Austin area so new and experienced users alike can learn more about the project, as well as get the chance to go out and map! Feel free to bring along your laptop and GPS unit to our meetups...we'll also have some on hand to lend out during the meet up.

We're a laid back group with a wide range of participants. We welcome anyone who is interested in making their community stronger through better maps. People interested in hiking, cycling, Open Source projects, GIS, Geocaching, or just maps in general are encouraged to join us.

  • REI GPS 101

7-8 Oct 2009 in Austin, United States

Hi Austin Mappers, I just got a message from REI inviting us to their GPS and mapping class tomorrow. I will be there and I encourage anyone else interested in brushing up on their skills to attend as well. Its a two part class. The first part is a how to and the second part is an actual mapping exercise. I think it would be great for us to attend and show them what OSM is all about! I'll see you there. More info about the class can be found at Best, Thea
