Rochester Hackers

Do you... - make a point of learning new programming languages that change the way you think about programming - read a lot of Hacker News - think the web is a fantastic and interesting platform for applications - have ideas for technology or software startups, but don't know where to find local cofounders or collaborators - wish there was somewhere you could go outside of school or the Web to learn new things about software, technology, hacking, and startups? - wonder a lot about how things work?

I envision monthly meetings that are a club/barcamp mashup. It would be a way for technology enthusiasts, professional programmers, and entrepreneurs to exchange ideas and collaborate on projects for both fun and profit. I see us meeting up every month or so, where we can grab some pizzas and people can give mini-presentations on topics that interest them in an environment conducive to both learning and sharing.
