    According to several studies, you can reduce defects by twice as much with techniques such as unit testing and do it in a fraction of the time. You can improve your skills using the same techniques. Automation is available for much of this. These techniques can be categorized into a broad area called Code Analysis. There are a wide variety of free, static and dynamic analysis tools to aid in code analysis.
