Scalathon 2012

Scalathon 2012 will held July 28-29, 2012 at the Valley Forge Casino Resort, in suburban Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.Friday's event, "Anatomy of a Scala Project" has a separate Meetup page and registration fee.The Radisson Hotel, part of the resort complex, will be setting aside a number of rooms for Scalathon attendees. We will have more details on those arrangements soon. In addition, there are numerous hotels in the area.

Scalathon 2012: Anatomy of a Scala Project

The Friday lead-in event features various Scala open source developers who will discuss Scala open source project "best practices". These will include topics like: 1. Setup: giter8, git, and other setup aids 2. Building: getting started with sbt, using Maven (shudder), etc. 3. Testing: Using ScalaTest and Specs, SCCT for coverage, etc. 4. Profiling: Caliper and, maybe, YourKit 5. Documentation: Pamflet, Scaladoc, sbt-lwm, Github Pages 6.

Erik Osheim discusses type classes

Erik Osheim, of Azavea, will be discussing Scala type classes.This meeting will be held simultaneously with the meetings of up to three other Philadelphia tech users groups. We'll all be meeting on the 16th floor of the Philadelphia Municipal Services Building, at 1417 JFK Boulevard, Philadelphia, PA.Food will be provided, and there will be time afterward to socialize and network with the attendees of all the meetings.

Parser Combinators and Interpreters in Scala (Yuvi Masory)
